![]() ![]() ![]() The white polymer surface makes anything standing on it seem to almost float and it's surprisingly dirt and knick-resistant (cat-tested). Those things aside, the Charcoal Standing Desk is certainly one of the nicest looking desks I've had the pleasure of working at. What my desk actually looks like once my robot collection starts wandering over. The ability to lock out the controls would be nice, though probably not possible with such a simple control scheme. It's a neat, minimalist look but I was never able to get my favorite upper and lower limits saved, which was an issue when I'd accidentally bump the controls and the desk would start raising or lowering. The raise/lower controls are mounted on the top of the desk as well. I nicked the hanging cubby from my UPLIFT desk but I'd love it if Charcoal at least offered a solution that matched the clean aesthetic of the standing desk. There's also no hanging or under desk storage solution for things like papers, headphones, and the other detritus that accumulates while working. The extra 3 inches afforded by 48x30’ desks (like UPLIFT) make an appreciable amount of difference. Whether or not you have room for your keyboard and him is not his concern. If he wants to be on the desk, then he's going to be there. You scoff, but at 13 pounds, Loki is an ever-present, insistent, and un-ignorable part of my work day. At just 27-inches deep, there's less room for my cat. I do run into an issue almost as soon as I start testing the small-sized desk. "Does it look like I care that you don't have room to type?"
